Daily Notes on Poetry & Related Matters

17 November 2005: Great news: I came up win another term for one who experiences an artwork: "aesthimbiber." I think I considered "aesthbiber" once--and possibly "aesthimbiber." This morning I started thinking of terms combining "aesth" with words like "acceptor" which being with vowels and thus can work pronunciationally. "Aesthabsorber" was one. I realize my quest for such a term is ridiculous, but I do keep finding a need for it--when writing about the experiencer of a visual poem. I can't use "read" even though I know a reader with assume a loose meaning of the word so it covers seeing.

Meanwhile, I've been going through my blog entries, now over 600, one by one. My object is to list them by subject matter. Later, I hope to connect strings of entries dealing with a single subject, such as haiku. Anyway, as I skimmed what I've written over the past 22 months, I realized what a marvelous focus on me my entries provide--or anyone's similar entries would provide on him. To my chagrin, I found that I didn't understand a few of my entries. The brilliance of a few delighted me, though. My guess is that about ten percent of my entries are excellent, ten percent poor, forty percent passable, and forty percent between passable and excellent. I guess there are enough words in them for a book, not counting material from before my blog that I've re-cycled. I'm glad I started it.
