August 21: In the mail a day or two ago the first check for my soon to be published From Haiku To Lyriku ($20, from me) from John M. Bennett, plus a copy of Puking Trolley, which is subtitled, Love Songs of the Leper, and is available from Luna Bisonte Prods, 137 Leland Avenue, Columbus OH 43214 for ten bucks, postpaid. Important question: should subtitles be in italics?
Puking Trolley is by Olchar E. Lindsann, a name entirely new to me but whose work has a lot in common, I believe, with that of Ficus strangulensis. The volume is nicely produced, 38 11 by 8.5 inch pages, many in full color, plus copyright and title pages, both of which have works on them, includes collaborations with dadaDavid Hartke, bela b. grimm, John M. Bennett, Jessy Kendall, Megan Blafas, Chi-Kit Kwong, and Warren Fry. Hartke's name sorta rings a bell, and I think I've heard of Bennett. Whoever they are, they've done some great stuff in this book, including the following, which is by Bennett and Lindsann:

It's here not only because I like it a lot, and because I'm too lazy to try to work up an entry that's more than a show and tell of someone else's work, but because I was so knocked out by its device of writing between torn graphic. Simple, and I suppose it occurs in a lot of collages, but it suddenly struck me as Wow. Writing through a newspaper ad. The words, by the way, are "stumble clouds" . . . I think. Anyway, the device made me think of roadways labeling through something opened up to exploration. More that I haven't thoght up to verbalization yet.
