April 14: Yesterday, Geof Huth dropped by for around four hours--with his stupit camera. He did get a good shot of my substitute teacher ID, though, and a bunch of my external four-wheel storage shed. I made him take a shot of my cat Shirley, too. Shirley likes him, but she likes everyone. Good visit. He treated me with the respect and lunch out that I wish more in his generation would would treat their elders with. He bought a bunch of his Runaway Spoon Press titles, too. For details of our afternoon, go to Geof's blog. I'm terrible at documenting social stuff, even socio-literary stuff, but he usually does a good job.
Before Geof arrived, I spent a couple of hours playing tennis. I also swept three or four square feet of my floor. I didn't clean my toilet, though. Geof likes being useful, so I was going to have him do it, but forgot to ask him to. Anyway, I had a full day, so my exercise at Paint Shop was particularly perfunctory:

This really has no redeeming features, but it was a good learning experience because while futzing around with it, I finally (accidentally) learned how to draw smooth curves.
A final news item: today I got a copy of Marton Koppany's Endgames, an Otoliths publication. Great book that especially elates me for the personal reason that it and Spencer Selby's recent Otoliths collection have really established an elite company--which makes me feel like I'll be making it into the big leagues when my Otoliths collection is published, which should be fairly soon. Or: good evidence against the way I feel sometimes when I'm in my null zone. I expect to say more about Marton's book soon--although I've written here about several of the pieces in it. I'm too tired to say more here due to my busy yesterday, and my having subbed today.
