Daily Notes on Poetry & Related Matters

June 22: Strange how hard certain habits are to break. I have nothing to put in this entry today, I feel out of it (with high blood pressure, for some reason), and am out of town so have a good excuse to skip it--as I announced a few days ago I might well do. Nonetheless, here is an entry, with a free-association poem about Poem (that is almost completely worthless):

Scriveners tend too many porches,
Poem thought, as he clambered
through sortie after
sortie of adjectives
grimmering to brown and thinner
shades of other. Lost precognitions
violated his moist reminiscences of the
jeep parked under the blossoming
apple trees. We must provision
the loyal shadows with gingham
and lace before the moonlight's
pace becomes too fast.
