Daily Notes on Poetry & Related Matters

May 7: Yagoo, mine comrades, I'm off on another Grand Quest. Of course, that what I also think I'm off on when I begin on any project greater than a poem. This one is a gig as a regular blogger at the Teacherswide site. That's where Betsy Franco declared me her favorite poet. No big deal on the surface but if Rod Schecter--the man in charge, I take it--likes the sample entry I sent him a few hours ago, I'll be able to get samples of My Kind of Poetry, with my comments on them, in front of several thousand teachers. If the connect to what I'm saying (and, as usual, I'm sure many of them will!!), then they'll expose their students to My Kind of Poetry--meanly visual and infraverbal poetry, but--oddly--sound poetry, at first.

Ergo, the next generation will reach adulthood much closer to liking My Kind of Poetry than any previous generation. I might be able to sell some books through the blog, too. I'm planning to campaign for Ampersand Squared to begin with. With luck, maybe a batch or two of books for full classes, but at least a few for school libraries. Other good things may happen. I hope to post on my progress every day something happens since history will be made: Our Poetry's turning a corner toward acceptance--or for some very interesting reason not.
