Daily Notes on Poetry & Related Matters

May 31: This morning, after my usual hour of tennis with my friend Ed, I went to Staples to buy a a laptop that had been advertised in the morning paper. I forgot that Staples opens late on Sundays so was an hour-and-a-half early. I needed tennis balls, so went to Walmart, which was fairly close. There I found a laptop for only slightly more than the one on sale at Staples ($440), and apparently having a feature or two more, so I bought it and got home an hour earlier than I thought I was going to. It took me a while to get the new computer working the way I wanted it to, but it now seems to be doing what I hoped it would: allowing me to make larger versions of my mathemaku and other graphics, without taking a zillion years for each little doodle. I couldn't afford it, but the more I think about it, the more I think I had to buy it.

So far I've just played around on it, making a non-representational who-knows-what. I haven't the energy to do anything consequential with it right now. I feel good about it, though.
